The Encinitas Arts, Culture and Ecology Alliance has officially christened its prospective arts-related facility on the Pacific View site as the Pacific View Academy of Arts, and the non-profit group is kicking off its fundraising efforts with a concert this Friday, May 6, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m at The Studio, located at 1057 South Hwy 101 in Encinitas, on the north end of the Hansen’s parking lot. The concert will feature notable local musicians. Admission will be free; a Wishing Well for donations will be prominent, along with a sign-up booth for Pacific View Academy of Arts memberships, displays and exhibits.
Additional progress toward creating this public asset has been made — on Friday, April 29, the Alliance (consisting of many local artists and community leaders) signed a Right of Entry agreement, allowing the Alliance, its architects and landscape planners on the property to more completely assess its current condition, stop the deterioration of the buildings and restore the buildings at no expense or risk to the city. A final lease agreement is currently being negotiated.
Encinitas Friends of the Arts held a “Passport to Africa” music, art and dance event on April 29, where some proceeds went to the Pacific View Academy of Arts.
