Last week, SavePacificView.org wrote to the Encinitas Union School District board and requested that they vote on postponing the upcoming auction of the Pacific View site during its meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, March 11, 2014.
Superintendent Baird replied by repeating his intention to go through with the March 25 auction of the property to the highest bidder. He did add a Pacific View “discussion item” to Tuesday’s agenda, meaning that the board will not vote on postponing the auction, but will “review the history of our attempts to utilize Pacific View after its closing and to give the Board an update on the auction process.” The board will also hear 30 minutes of public comments.
That’s where you can make an impact and tell the superintendent and board members how you feel about preserving this priceless treasure for public use. You can choose to speak or make an invaluable statement just by being present at this pivotal event. This is our final opportunity before the sale to show them how important Pacific View’s future is to Encinitas, and just how many of us there actually are.
Since this is our last chance to address the board, we want to be well-prepared. If you’d like to speak at the meeting, please send us an email at info@SavePacificView.org and let us know what aspect of the issue you’d like to talk about. We’ll try to coordinate potential speakers to cover as many aspects as possible and avoid redundancy. Speakers will be allowed three minutes each.
If you don’t get to speak, or don’t want to speak, remember that just showing up will speak volumes! And if you know any kids who’d like to come, they’d be most welcome.
